Unlike last year, the Scandia Gammalgården Spellmanstemma proved successful, with bright sunshine and warm temperatures

This "bonus" year both the junior spellmanslags from Rättvikand Vikarbyn(Dalarna Sweden) were performing, as well as the Friday Fiddle Club youth group and the spelmanslag from the American Swedish Institute.

The food was great and my sister was also visiting from SE Missouri.  Friends and fellow musicians were able to hear the southern accent that it is hard to believe, I once had (where did it go?).

There were several firsts for sister Laurel at this event; the first time she'd:

     eaten knäckebrőd, tasted lefse, pickled herring and a couple of other "fine Scandinavian foods"
     heard Swedish folk music
     witnessed Scandinavian dances

My sister really enjoyed the day and Gammalgården gift shop sold several books.
